Advanced muscle Near Infrared Spectroscopy
Advanced muscle NIRS course
We are happy to announce that we will conduct an advanced course for muscle NIRS (mNIRS) in collaboration with Vrije Universiteit (VU) Amsterdam. Join us on Friday, 7th of March 2025 in Amsterdam! 🇳🇱
Advanced muscle Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (mNIRS) course
As the use of Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) to measure muscle oxygenation continues to grow each year, we are excited to offer our expertise to ensure that everyone can use this equipment to its full potential. In light of this, we have developed a one-day advanced course focusses on using NIRS in the muscle (mNIRS). The course is open to anyone interested in Near Infrared Spectroscopy of any field, including students, postgraduates, researchers, new users, and other professionals.
All mNIRS enthusiasts are welcome!
LOCATION & SCHEDULE
This advanced mNIRS course will be held on Friday, 7th of March 2025 at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
PROGRAM
The advanced mNIRS course will be divided into two different parts:
Theoretical background — learn more about:
In-depth theory of NIRS and SRS
Basics on TD-NIRS and HD-EMG
Common outcome variables in evaluating muscle oxygenation and how they can be calculated
Applicable experimental setup, methodological considerations and analysis methods
Practical hands-on session: Put the acquired theoretical knowledge into practice and perform different mNIRS experiments from set-up to simple data analysis
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Attendance to the course is free of charge for all participants.
We will have lunch and coffee breaks during the course, but lunch and drinks are not included. Options to purchase lunch are available at / close to the university.
This (f)NIRS introduction course has limited spots for 18 participants. Therefore, we operate on a ‘first come, first served’ policy.
Please let us know when you registered but are not able to join anymore so we can allow another participant to join.
FAQs for this introduction course
Who is it for?
The introduction course is for anybody - current or prospective customers - who wishes to learn about mNIRS and how to use our systems to their full extent.
What does it cost and how can I pay?
This advanced mNIRS course is free to attend.
Is this an online course?
This time, the advanced mNIRS course will be held in person at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Online participation is not possible.
What do I need to prepare?
Having a laptop and notebook will make the course a better experience. Of course, if you have any questions, it helps to write them down beforehand so they become better defined and you won’t forget to ask them.
What is the difference between the advanced mNIRS and ARTscientific?
The advanced mNIRS course is meant to learn more about the theory and practice of mNIRS. ARTScientific is longer and focuses more on exchange with other (f)NIRS experienced scientists.
