About the companies
Artinis is a Dutch company that has been a world leader in manufacturing and distributing NIRS devices for over two decades. Focusing on portability, ease of use, and high technology, Artinis develops devices to measure brain and muscle oxygenation for various application fields, such as neuroscience, sports science and clinical research. At Artinis, we make optical imaging easy!
TMSi is a Dutch company specializing in designing and developing products to measure electrical activity in the body, such as brain waves (EEG) and muscle signals (HD-EMG). Providing a huge range of high-technological and user-friendly solutions, TMSi aims to equip researchers to record high-quality data, providing deeper insights into human physiology and advancing scientific research worldwide.
Before the acquisition, Artinis and TMSi had already been long-time collaborators, integrating their products to combine fNIRS and EEG into a single headcap, allowing both to be measured using the same software.
Block design is one of the most frequently used experimental designs when performing fNIRS experiments, as it offers various advantages. In this blogpost, we explain characteristics, advantages and considerations of block design experiments, and give recommendations on how to correctly use it in your fNIRS research.
