Brite MKII: Wearable, Highly-Flexible, Optimized, Accurate NIRS!

Optical imaging was never so easy

Meet the latest Artinis wearable NIRS system, designed for brain imaging in a wide range of settings and populations!

The brain is undoubtedly one of the most fascinating organs of the human body. fNIRS has helped unveil how the brain functions; that is, by exploiting the optical properties of human tissues, fNIRS measures relative changes in brain oxygenation.

Applications of fNIRS are various, spanning from lab to naturalistic settings, from children to elderly, from clinical populations to control groups. Such heterogeneity requires technology to be flexible and reliable. Artinis, a world leader in the development and distribution of NIRS technology, adds a new device to its range of portable devices to meet these needs. Following the success of the Brite23 and Brite24, we improved the Brite series by developing the unique Brite MKII.

How to describe the new Brite MKII?

WHOA!

Wearable…anywhere and by anyone!

Weighing less than 300 grams and with almost no set-up time, the new Brite MKII enables the study of the brain in almost all settings!

The Brite MKII comes with a great new feature: Multi-power gain control. This feature lets the user choose between 4 different power levels or select the auto-power setting. This improves the recording of brain activity across a wide range of ages, skin colors, scalp areas, hair types and cortical optode distances.

Do you want to switch from prefrontal to occipital measurements? From child to adult studies? No problem, the Brite MKII can automatically adapt the optical power accordingly.

Highly-flexible

Researchers often run multiple studies that focus on different brain areas and different depths of measurement. The Brite MKII also thought about this!

The new Flexible optode template feature lets users select specific optode templates (up to 27 channels with the possibility to enable more combinations of channels upon request) according to their preferred layout and cortical area of interest

Brite MKII also offers Flexible interoptode distances. Whether you want to measure shallow or deep, short or long channels from 10 mm up to 55 mm distances are now possible.

Fig. 1. Multi-power gain control recording on the prefrontal cortex. Heartbeat signal recorded at 10mm, 25 mm, 35 mm, and even 55 mm. Notice that the data in each graph is acquired using a different power level, ranging from 1 at 10mm in graph 1 up to 4 at 55mm in graph 4.

Optimized

The Brite MKII comes with another exciting optimized feature: Ambient light correction. This improved feature allows the use of the Brite MKII in almost any environment, including outdoor, office, lab, and hospitals.

Accurate

The Brite MKII offers improved data accuracy. This latter improvement allows to measure a wider range of OD ~ [0.01 up to 8.00], which results in increased system sensitivity. Additionally, upon request, you could get a Brite MKII with 24 bits of data transfer, which provides higher-resolution data visualization and export.

All together, these new features make the Brite MKII the foremost fNIRS device on the market for recording brain activity using any protocol.
